Worship Jesus
Disciples worship Jesus.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5 ESV
We’re called to worship Jesus everyday. One of the ways we do this is by setting aside time to read the Bible and pray daily. This will look a little bit different for everyone, but we want to give you the tools you need to do this.
Daily Time with Jesus
Read The Bible
Start with a chapter per day in the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John)
The goal is to work your way up to reading both Old and New Testament everyday and reading through the entire Bible every year. We have a Bible reading plan designed to help you do this. Download here!
Make sure your Bible reading is continuous. Don’t jump around. (For example, if you read Matthew 1 on Monday, read Matthew 2 on Tuesday.)
Journal about what you’ve read. SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) is a great way to journal.
Journal Using S.O.A.P.
Scripture: Take your time reading each chapter and allow God to speak to you. Look for a verse that particularly spoke to you and write it in your journal.
Observation: What do you think God is saying to you in this scripture? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and reveal Jesus to you. Paraphrase and write this scripture down in your own words in your journal.
Application: Personalize what you have read, by asking yourself how it applies to your life right now. Write how this scripture can apply to you today.
Prayer: This can be as simple as asking God to help you use this scripture, or it may be a greater insight on what He may be revealing to you. Remember, prayer is a two-way conversation, so be sure to listen to what God has to say and journal about it.
Pray Using A.C.T.S.
Adoration: Spend time worshipping the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and telling Him what you adore about Him.
Confession: Confess your sins to God. He will be faithful and just to forgive you of your sins. (1 John 1:9)
Thanksgiving: Thank God for all of His gifts and blessings.
Supplication: Present your needs to God.
